From Cannes with Chanel

Remember I told you there were still some nice things left to be shown from my weekend in Cannes? Well, as you can see, there's one brand that quite dominated my little shopping trip - and one of the fashion apartment's habitants is very delighted about its beautiful presents: my dressing table!

The dressing table was secretely hoping that if I went to the Côte d'Azur and left the rest of them in cold and grey Germany, I would at least come back with some decent French beauty products. And as I didn't want to disappoint my favourite beauty corner I brought back something from its favorite brand - Chanel, oh là là!

I'm a big fan of the lipstick Rouge Allure Velvet because it makes you look fresh and dynamic even if you feel rather tired - it adds that little something that makes a simple look more sophisticated and it illuminates your whole face. 
As for the nail polish, I love rather nude and descrete colours when it comes to my nails (even though deep red polish can look gorgeous,too). Anyway, even though I thought the polish was less pink and more beige when I bought it, it's a perfect pale colour for spring - provided that it finally arrives some day soon.

..and last but not least, I bought something great for my lounge which will get a special place when I move to my Berlin apartment early April: an old Chanel print from 1953 - I just need the right frame for it and then I won't only have Chanel on my lips and my nales but also on my wall!

.. as I said last week, I don't really like to come back to the fashion apartment empty handed - especially my wardrobe is always very disappointed and gets quite moody if it doesn't get new nice things to host from time to time. And when I go to London my wardrobe literally expects me to come back with nice things as it is convinced there is no better place to shop on earth!

So you can imagine it was quite delighted about the green Kenzo shirt I bought in the Open Ceremony store at Covent Garden. I just realized at home how well it matches the new trainers I bought at Urban Outfitters.

But this time not only my wardrobe got spoilt, but my lounge and dressing table got some pretty nice gifts as well. I love reading English books and the Great Gatsby has been on my to-read list for a long time so it has a special place in my lounge now and waiting for me to start reading it

Last but not least, I bought my favorite MAC concealer - I guess I'm not the only one who is a big fan of this product because it was sold out at almost every MAC store I went to - however, I didn't give up the chase for my beloved concealer (my boyfriend probably knows what I am talking about, he had to deal with my frustration about not finding the bloody concealer for several days) and finally found my object of desire at Harvey Nichols.

Good morning from my dressing table! As I told you in my last post, the old fellow was pretty annoyed with not being mentioned at all recently and he's right - my dressing table has so many things he would like to share with you, sometimes the wardrobe and lounge must keep quiet and let him enjoy the spotlight from time to time!

Ok, so what beauty news does my dressing table want to share with you? Well, let's start with my ultimate beauty fav's, my Chanel blush and my MAC transparent finish powder. Without those two helpers my make-up is just not complete - the Chanel blush makes me look fresh and is perfect for spring when I tend to wear pastel colours and light textures!

My MAC transparent finishing powder is an absolute must. I used it after putting on my BB creme which makes my face quite shiny. As the creme is slightly coloured already I don't want to use a coloured powder on top so the transparent powder is perfect! It's not too heavy and makes my face look matt and natural - and you still can see the nice glow of my BB creme.

And last but not least, I show you my highlight when it comes to taking off my make up in the evening. I think that's one of the most important things and it almost never happens - no matter how tired I am - that I skip this daily beauty routine. My skin is quite sensitive so Créaline H2O by Bioderma is perfect for me. It takes off everything in only one go, it barely smells of anything and it leaves my skin super clean and fresh. Trust me, I tested a lot of beauty products but nothing convinced me as much as Créaline H2O. I used to buy them in pharmacies in Paris but you can get them on the internet, too.

So yes, you're right, my dear dressing table - you have good stuff to offer.

Objects of Desire

Spring fever. This is what's going on in my fashion apartment. The lounge is craving for flowers, white candles and bright furniture, my wardrobe fell in love with this gorgeous Acne blazer and my dressing table dreams of this YSL pastel eye shadow. And the worst thing is: They always want everything at the same time. And they can't wait a few weeks or months - nooo - they want it straight away! Well.. let's see what they will get. One thing is for sure - they all have rather good taste.

Dressing Table: My Beautiful Five

They often say that there's nothing more difficult than finding the perfect pair of jeans. Very true. However, I must say that I used to deal with an even bigger problem - I just didn't seem to find the perfect make-up essentials. I generally don't use too much make-up but I think that there are some basics like a good mascara and a light foundation matching your skin type perfectly are aboluste must-haves. And then, finally in 2012, after years of trying different promising concealers, primers, mascaras, foundations and a lot of frustration when the products were not as good as I expected them to be, something amazing happened: I found my more or less perfect beauty kit. So now in 2013, after almost one year of experience with my 5 beauty helpers, I would like to share them with you!

Clinique Super City Block & Even Better Dark Circle Corrector

These are the two products I start my day with. The Super City Block is a really good primer that protects my skin from the sun and from all kinds of environmental influence. It feels really smooth on my skin and slightly covers rednesses. In order to make dark circles from late nights disappear, I love to use Clinique's Dark Circle Corrector that makes the whole eye area look more bright and makes me look less tired in the mornings. Two great products from Clinique that definitely ease my start in the day!

Garnier Roll-On, Garnier Miracle Skin Protector BB Creme & ASTOR Big Boom Mascara

I'm not a big fan of heavy make-up and most foundations are just too much for me or don't seem to match my skin colour as they should. I was pretty sceptical about 2012's big BB Creme hype but still decided to give it a go with a less expensive product to start with. Et voilà, with Garnier's first BB Creme I found my perfect foundation! It's super light and matches my skin colour and I just feel comfortable with it during the whole day. It makes my skin lightly glow and gives me a fresh and natural look, I really do recommend it! Also, I use a little bit of the Roll-On stick in order to brighten my eye area a little bit more. And as a finish I use Astor's Big Boom Mascara that makes my eye lashes look longer and thicker. 

.. so all in all I can recommend all of those 5 products for a natural everyday make up. So now I guess I just have to find my 5 perfect denim trousers?
